## Description

This is a partnership project with the Freshwater Biological Association and the Environment Agency\. The project has three main aims: 1\. to maintain an ‘ark’ facility for threatened English pearl mussel populations to safeguard against further local extinction, 2\. to subsequently breed from captive individuals in order to release juveniles and/or encysted fish back to the wild as part of reintroduction programmes, and 3\. to carry out research into rearing juvenile mussels and reintroduction techniques\.
