Description

The provision of short breaks is a statutory requirement that requires local authorities to provide access to services that are designed to assist children with disabilities and their families. The local authority must offer short breaks as part of a preventative model in keeping families together, stopping family breakdown and preventing children and young people with disabilities becoming children looked after. The service is required for children and young people with a disability eligible for social care support where the assessment of need has identified an individual and their family/carer would benefit from access to short break services. There are 2 contracts for the above service To provide community short break services to children and young people with a disability during the daytime including afterschool, weekends and school holidays and overnight community short breaks, operating in both a planned manner and in response to crisis or emergency situations. This contract is broken down to 3 lots (North Warwickshire, South Warwickshire and Rugby) To provide residential overnight short break services to children and young people with a disability in an appropriately regulated, and Council approved, residential setting that will include overnight stays in both a planned manner and in response to crisis or emergency situations. To enhance the offer of residential overnight short breaks with community-based outreach support to offer extended support to work with children and their families within the family home.
