Bedfordshire Police HQ Temporary Custody Unit Hire

Description

We are continuing with the existing hire of a temporary custody unit for a further three years. When this contract was originally awarded it was assumed that a decision to build a new custody unit was imminent and therefore the units would only be required for the period of time that it would take to tender and construct the new custody buildings. Since this time various delays in giving the final consent to build the new custody have prevented the project being started and it is therefore necessary to extend the period for which these temporary units are required. To remove the units, tender and replace them with an alternative contractor would not be cost effective and would require prolonged closure of the custody unit, resulting in significant internal costs and disruption.
