Mansfield District Council MDCT 17-0386 Provision of the Design Services for the Stabilisation Works at Berry Hill Quarry, Mansfield

Berry Hill Quarry has been developed for housing and over time some of the quarry faces have partially eroded resulting in some significant land slippages in close proximity to the curtilages of dwellings at the base of the quarry face. The open space land above the quarry face is predominantly in the Council's ownership and some areas of the quarry face itself are in the ownership of both the Council and deeds of the dwellings. Further slippages are possible and therefore an engineering solution is required to minimise the risk of such an occurrence. As the Council owns the land above the quarry face and parts of the quarry face it is considered that the land at the base of cliff, within a defined buffer zone, should also be acquired from local residents to facilitate the implementation of an engineering solution and the long term maintenance of the quarry face.
