T0003 Suppoer to Drone Operations

Description

The strategic decision by the Highways England to undertake steps to implement governance specific to drones was made in September 2019. As a result, SPaTS 1-991 (Highways England Drone Operating Policy and Standards) was scoped and which delivered an initial policy that established specific requirements relating to drone activities over and above Highways England's overarching risk management process as set out by GG104 Requirements for safety risk assessment. This policy applies to drone activities on our network commissioned directly by Highways England. A roadmap summarising scope and strategic requirements for developing and embedding a drone operations capability within the business was also developed by the same project. SPaTS 1-991 was an interim tactical measure to meet the meet the critical requirements of establishing initial policy and standards for all drone operations within the business. This is a follow-on Task to SPaTS task 1-991 to support the Highways England Drone Governance Hub in undertaking selected activities from the roadmap developed as part of SPaTS Task 1-991
