18/5 - Provision of Security Shutters

Description

The University of Portsmouth is de-commissioning one of its student accommodation sites. A number of buildings will be demolished but others will be retained on site as empty properties. The empty properties will have services disconnected and all loose furniture and fittings removed. The void period is likely to be for an extended time. The University is looking to secure the retained empty buildings to minimise risk from vandalism and arson. It is proposed to install a metal shutter system covering the windows and doors to the ground floor areas. The doors should be able to provide access to maintenance personnel should an internal inspection of the building be required.
