Description

This notice covers an awarded contract to cover works at Dean Brook Culvert.The Works involve the removal of an existing partly collapsed culvert and replacing it with a new reinforced concrete culvert structure. It should be noted that a GPR survey will be required before any excavation work can take place. An Environmental Action Plan will be provided which will identify ecological measures that need to be put in place and maintained prior to work commencing. It should be noted that due to issues of fish and spawning, the brook bed cannot be disturbed before the start of June and after the end of October. The area is known to have been the site for a bleach works and the ground in the area is likely to be contaminated. Window samples were taken and a geotechnical report has been provided. The arisings from the workspace excavation for the new box culvert will be removed from site for disposal and the workspace will be backfilled with imported type 1 sub-base or similar. The intention is to remove the risk of contaminated spoil being used for backfill.
