Supply of Spare and Replacement Parts from Econ Engineering Limited

Description

DfI Roads provide winter service maintenance duties using a gritting fleet of 133 vehicles. 26 vehicles are held as strategic spare vehicles. 96 vehicles have gritting bodies manufactured by Econ Engineering Limited. Throughout the duration of the vehicle's life, components and hardware fail due to wear, damage or fatigue. Failed components and hardware must be replaced to ensure that winter service gritting functions can be completed. Direct Award Contract (DAC) is due to Econ Engineering owning the exclusive rights to its gritting bodies and parts. Econ Engineering does not operate a distribution network for spares and replacement parts. The parts are specific to Econ and cannot be supplied by any other company therefore these key replacement parts must be obtained directly from Econ Engineering Ltd.
