Description
UK Sport's new strategic plan outlines that 'we will harness the power and platform of sport to drive positive change across wellbeing, diversity, inclusion and sustainability; walking the walk and using our voice to inspire others to act'. In addition to our own ambition to inspire positive change, we know from two separate pieces of research conducted by UK Sport that: • 86% of funded athletes would like to use their platform to make a difference to society while they are still competing. • Two in three adults believe that athletes have a role to play in championing causes they believe in and raising awareness of social issues. In understanding how we might support funded athletes to have greater ownership of how they can use their platform and voice to power positive change, in 2022/23 we tendered to find an organisation to partner with UK Sport to deliver an athlete capacity building initiative. The purpose of this initiative was to develop an athlete's individual knowledge, skills, and confidence to become an effective agent of change. This pilot intervention was known as Powered by Purpose. After a successful pilot, delivered in partnership with The True Athlete Project, UK Sport is now seeking to scale up the delivery of Powered by Purpose by entering into a multi-year agreement with a delivery partner. Inputs and contract details The appointed provider will be required to sign a UK Sport contract (includes data protection and confidentiality clauses) at the outset of the contract. The successful supplier will work closely with relevant colleagues within the UK Sport Social Impact Team to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative. Noting the successful supplier will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the programme. ************************************ To express interest in this opportunity, please e-mail Josh.Saydraouten@uksport.gov.uk
