Work description
Watford Borough Council operates a Museum within the Town. As part of the collection, the Museum has a small textile store where mould growth has recently been found on some items whilst completing inventory work. The textile collection contains a variety of daily working- and middle-class clothing, school, work and military uniforms, coats, some wedding dresses and includes a small number of hats and shoes. Materials vary including wool, silk, leather, cotton and furs. The periods covered are predominantly Victorian and 20th Century. We are seeking an accredited conservator / conservation company to provide a quotation for collection and off-site treatment of the costume collection, which contains approximately 540 boxed items and 120 hung items. Please respond expressing an interest in performing the service and provide some evidence of experience. The Council will then request a quotation from you.
