Work description
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a Special Health Authority responsible for the provision of blood components, tissue services and ocular donation and organ donation, as well as a range of associated specialist laboratory and patient therapeutic services to hospitals in England. The organisation operates at a local level through a network of Blood Centres but is structured nationally for managerial control with a single Executive and Board.
The Manufacturing and Logistics (M&L) Directorate is responsible for the processing and testing of blood and the supporting logistics. The Transport department of M&L is tendering a contract for the procurement of appropriate courier services for national implementation to support existing NHSBT internal resources.
The Specification is intended to describe to prospective suppliers the functional, technical and service requirements, in order that they may propose the most suitable solution to meet NHSBT’ business needs.
Following initial consideration of the responses, selected suppliers will be invited to present their responses to the evaluation team.
NHSBT does not commit to paying any costs incurred by suppliers in the preparation and/or submission of a response to this Specification, or any subsequent Invitation to Tender.
The Contract will be for a five year period commencing 01/02/2017 with the option to extend for a further two one year periods. The service is required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
