Description
To obtain an external legal resource to provide advice and assistance to DFT on the effect the UK's exit from the EU may have on the operation of the Channel Tunnel. The GETLINK group operate passenger and freight services through the tunnel. Throughout the UK's EU exit process, GETLINK have expressed to the Department concern that their business may be disrupted or interfered with, contrary to the provisions allowing them to operate their Tunnel services and that this will in turn hit their profits. It is highly likely that they would seek to protect their business and profits through litigation against the department, potentially resulting the Department having to pay them significant damages if they are successful.
