Collections movement and storage for the "Harris Your Place" Project

In March 2021 Preston City Council was awarded £4.5m from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the delivery of the £10.02m Harris Your Place project. Other funders include Preston City Council, Lancashire County Council, Arts Council England, City Deal, Trusts and Foundations, and private donors.

To enable major capital works to be delivered, all collections will be moved out of the Harris building and re-stored in alternative premises. Collections will be moved to the Museum of Lancashire and the University of Central Lancashire (see Appendices ** and ** for the list of collections and city centre location map). There is also a requirement for additional storage for selected art works that forms part of these schedule of services (See appendix ** for full schedule of services).

The Harris requires a supplier to support the de-installation, handling, condition checking, packing, and transport of collections from the Harris to storage locations. Further support will be required to unpack and re-store the collections at new storage locations.
