Work description
Surrey Fire & Rescue Service hosts one of the UK's National Resilience assets: the Detection, Identification and Monitoring (DIM) vehicle. This vehicle must be ready for deployment, with a competent crew, to any local, regional or national emergency that involves hazardous materials. To ensure this vehicle is ready to respond a team of twelve Hazardous Materials & Environmental Protection Advisors (HMEPA) have received additional training in the use of the scientific equipment on board the vehicle. This team, and its support crew are known as the Detection, Identification & Monitoring Team or DIM Team.
All members of the DIM Team are required to demonstrate competence through performance and assessment to meet the requirements of the national standard.
This training is to include CPD for Hazmat Incidents. Surrey Fire & Rescue Service is seeking interest from providers to deliver periodic training and assessment to ensure the continued competence of its DIM Team.
