Work description
Editorial content, design & creative services for UCL Portico Magazine.
Portico Magazine is the flagship publication of the Development and Alumni Relations Office. It is produced annually and is mailed out to over 155,000 UCL alumni worldwide. It contains articles that highlight UCL involvement in current affairs, profiles alumni who are using their UCL education to make an impact on the wider world and engages the audience with institutional happenings and news.
In 2013, we evaluated the most recent issue of the magazine (then named UCL People) and found that less than 11% of the entire cost of the magazine had been spent on the actual content.
In 2014, we renamed the magazine and invested in our content further to ensure that our flagship publication continued to be impactful with our audiences. To continue this work we wish to employ an external agency to produce all editorial content for the magazine. This will include design, photography, images and written content
The purpose of this tender is to choose a supplier to produce all editorial content for the magazine inclusive of images, photography and written articles within a budget of £65,000. This fee would include the production of all content and creative services fees for this agency. The Supplier will work with UCL to apportion some of the magazine space to advertising. The Supplier will be responsible for sourcing this advertising and make it cost effective
The supplier will manage the print and fulfilment process for the magazine. This will involve working with a chosen printer from the UCL print framework, to print and fulfil the magazine for a cost of approximately £50,000 for print and £25,000 for fulfillment. We will expect you to manage this process and to invoice us for this costs.
We would ask that bidders complete this document in full and produce a two page proposal that provides us with an outline of their company services and their thoughts on how they would approach this project and would comply with all the service requirements presented in this tender.
