Work description

Croydon CCG is seeking information from providers of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) services which it will use to help refine its commissioning approach and inform the development of its service specification. Croydon CCG is engaging early with potential service providers for an intermediate Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) service. The aim of this exercise is to gauge interest in this opportunity and field for innovative or competitive proposals to improve our local provision. Feedback from the market will help determine our procurement strategy including whether a competitive procurement process is appropriate.

Local Context

NHS Croydon PCT (now CCG) commissioned a community based “one-stop shop” Intermediate ENT service in 2013, via two Any Qualified Provider (AQP) contracts. The consultant-led Intermediate ENT service treats: • Otalgia • Otorrhoea • Aural Toilet • Otitis Externa • Otitis Media • Impacted ear wax removal • Perforation of eardrum • Mastoid cavities requiring evaluation and toileting • Tinnitus • Dizziness/vertigo • Nasal blockage ± facial pain • Nasal polyps • Chronic Rhinitis • Nose Bleeds (Epistaxis) • Glue ear • Snoring • Globus (no suspicion of cancer intermittent, non smoker, no weight loss) • Intermittent hoarseness >3 weeks

The total contract value for 14-15 was roughly £160k.
