Work description
Portsmouth City Council is inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced providers to tender for this project.
This contract will be for the upgrade of traffic signals technology and associated civils works at specific junctions within the city of Portsmouth.
The main headings under which work will be required are: o the upgrade of the traffic signals from the current technology to MOVA 7 o the provision of civils improvements at up to 8 junctions across the city (these will be provided as detailed designs)
Contracting and sub-contracting arrangements:
For this contract the Council will appoint a civils contractor as the Principal Contractor who in turn will manage all works required to deliver the outputs. This will include the appointment and management of a specialist traffic signals sub-contractor required to undertake the signals upgrade to MOVA.
During the tender process to appoint the Principal Contractor, tenderers will be asked to price the works based on Siemens being the sub-contractor for the signals works.
If tenderers wish to consider alternative suppliers for the signal upgrade other than Siemens, they will have an opportunity to present this in the form of a variant bid alongside a compliant reference bid using Siemens, which the Council will then consider.
Programme:
The Council is targeting to have awarded the contract by April 2017 with a subsequent commencement date of May 2017. It is anticipated that the works will be delivered in a time frame not exceeding three months.
The closing date for receipt of your expression of interest is given against the heading entitled - Date documents can be requested until.
