Environmental Asset Review

Cornwall Council owns and manages a considerable number of environmental assets which are diverse in terms of characteristics, size and significance and which have built up over a long period of time. The Council acts as land owner, steward, regulator, commissioner of services and influencer on wider management practices; it has a variety of statutory duties together with a social responsibility to manage the estate efficiently for the population and wider economy of Cornwall. The assets have a range of community and commercial uses and increasingly they are being used for a range of private commercial businesses. The stewardship of these assets by the Council entails significant costs and liabilities and the Council wishes to explore the commercial potential of these assets. The Council wishes to explore options for securing additional benefits and income streams. It is seeking to engage external expertise to review its environmental assets estate and to recommend projects which will enable it to harness the economic potential.
