Work description
1998/385/EML/DPG/18 Metal Additive Manufacturing System
The University of Sheffield, Design Prototyping Group (DPG) wishes to invite tenders for the provision of a Metal Additive Manufacturing System (MAMS).
Scope of Requirement
The system should be capable of building complex three dimensional metal parts directly from a CAD data file through sequential addition of metal powder in layers, which is then subsequently melted.
The MAMS will be used to design and manufacture prototype components for a range of applications catering to industries such as aerospace, medical, space and automotive. The MAMS must be able to process reactive powders in a safe environment either through integrated ATEX rated sieving capability (preferred) or an external closed looped sieve system (compatible with MAMS).
