Description

Essex County Council (ECC) is seeking a provider to deliver a county-wide Independent Mental Capacity Advocate (IMCA) and Paid representative Service. The IMCA service is specified as part of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, this service is to provide independent advocacy support to people who lack capacity to make important decisions and have no representative to support them. The successful provider must be able to provide a generic countywide IMCA service, for people over the age of 16 years as covered by the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and for people over the age of 18 years as covered by the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. The IMCA service will need to be provided to a wide variety of people including those with learning disabilities, dementia, mental health needs, acquired brain injury and sensory impairments. ECC is looking to enter into a 2 to 3 year contract. This tender will follow an open, single stage process with a contract commencement date of 1 July 2016.
