TC016 Private Hire and Hackney Carriage Vehicle Testing

The Council has a statutory duty, provided by the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, to ensure that all PHV's and HCV's that operate within the borough's boundaries undergo regular mechanical and bodywork compliance checks to ensure their suitability to be used as 'taxis' licensed by the Council. The Authority is seeking to appoint up to six DVSA Accredited Contractors to carry out the HCV/ PHV tests on the Framework Agreement. The proprietors of the vehicles shall make the decision as to which approved test station they wish to go to.
