Description
The Authority has a requirement for engineering inspection services to inspect its Lifting equipment and other equipment to ensure the safety of the machinery, systems and personnel who interact with these equipment. It is essential that lifting equipment are inspected at regular intervals to identify any faults and defects in machinery before they present risk and for the Authority to take remedial actions to correct any problems that might have identified during an inspection. Under this contract, the majority of the equipment to be inspected are lifting equipment which comes under Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) which stipulates inspections as frequently as 6 or 12 months. Failure to inspect and correct any defects identified runs the risk of incurring fines if found to be in breach of health and safety law under the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)'s Fee for Intervention (FFI) cost recovery scheme.
