## Description

This is a strategic site that would act as the key western gateway for, and improve access across, Wigan Town Centre\. It is strategically important due to its key links to the adjacent Leeds Liverpool canal, River Douglas, Wigan Pier Quarter \(a mixed-use cultural, residential and commercial development\), and with housing delivery within walking distance to an out-of-centre retail provision\. The corridor also links into the Station Gateway that will be a HS2 station, currently being developed, which will be active by 2026\.
