Work description

The service is a programme that pioneers and develops interactive music projects for people living with dementia. The service projects offer community and residential care based post diagnostic support for people with dementia and their carers. The outcomes of the projects for customers are to; increase confidence, reduce isolation, give a person a greater sense of identity, a sense of belonging and participation in a shared experience and improved health and well-being.

The core programme offers three interlinked strands of work: • Music improvisation workshops for people living with dementia (8 sessions over 8 weeks). • Experiential staff training: working with staff to enhance their understanding of personhood and the emotional needs of people living with dementia, as part of a person-centred approach to dementia care. • Training and developing professional musicians to work in this field

Additional information: A new contract is putting in place for a period of 18 months to afford the newly forming NHS North West London CCG time to agree the approach to commission this service at NWL ICS level in line with national and ICS guidance to ensure smoother, less complicated, non-duplicated service delivery.
