## Description

The University of Sheffield is out to tender on behalf of the Department of Oncology and Metabolism for an X-Ray Irradiator\. Scope of Requirement: The Department of Oncology and Metabolism \(https://www\.sheffield\.ac\.uk/medicine/department-oncology-metabolism\) in the Medical School currently houses a Caesium \(137Cs\) irradiator \(purchased from CIS Bio International - model number IBL437c\) which is subject to strict security, licensing, regulatory compliance, regular inspections and annual recalibration\. Given these issues and in line with Project Fieldfare - a government initiative to replace Caesium irradiators in the UK with alternative technologies - the University of Sheffield is looking to purchase an X ray irradiator to support our preclinical research and experimental studies\. The X Ray Irradiator system will be used for studying the effects of radiation on molecular components and pathways in various cell culture models, or to create mutations for downstream analysis and/or ablative treatments for stem cell feeder layers\.
