Description
Explosive Detection Systems (EDS) and Explosive Detection systems for Cabin Baggage (EDS-CB) are a class of screening equipment which include automated algorithms for the detection of explosives. Equipment which meets applicable standards are permitted to be used to screen both Hold and Cabin bags in aviation security. These systems are tested and approved for use by a common testing methodology (CTM) and conducted within the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), Common Evaluation Process (CEP). Equipment which is accredited as meeting a standard under the (CEP) is subsequently approved by a national regulator such as the Department for Transport in the UK and the specified system can then be used to screen baggage in regulated airports.
