Description

Nottinghamshire County Council is responsible for providing and commissioning adult social care and health services. One such service is that Nottinghamshire County Council regularly requires its in-house Client Finance Team to apply to the Court of Protection to become Deputy for Property and Financial Affairs for its Service Users who lack capacity to manage their own finances and where there are no family or friends, willing, able, or suitable to take the role on themselves.\r A Deputy is someone who is appointed by the Court of Protection to manage the Property and Financial Affairs of a person. This will include managing the person's income and benefit entitlements, ensuring all bills are paid, and any property and investments are managed.\r Nottinghamshire County Council is looking to other Providers to take on some of the new cases it receives.\r Service Users who have over £100k in assets will be considered for a referral to Providers. However, there may be occasions where Service Users who have under £100k may be referred. This will only be done when the Service User's circumstances still warrant a professional Deputy.\r All deputyship referrals will need to follow the Court of Protection rules and guidance outlined at https://www.gov.uk/become-deputy\r
