Description
Tavistock Town Council invites tenders from RIBA Chartered Practices with the relevant skills and capability in heritage and conservation projects to oversee the repair and restoration of the Grade II listed Pannier Market, Tavistock, Devon, PL10 0AL. The project is being funded by Tavistock Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI). The Pannier Market is a 'critical' building within the overall scheme and will be the second building to be refurbished, following on from the adjacent Butchers' Hall (work currently underway and due for completion November 2016). The Pannier Market is owned by Tavistock Town Council and operates as a public market Tuesday to Saturday throughout the year. The market will continue to operate for the duration of the repair and restoration works and market traders will remain in situ. The repairs and restoration work to the Pannier Market are scheduled for completion by October 2017. The successfully appointed practice will be required to submit: 1) a lump sum tender for the production of a detailed design proposal for repairs and restoration work to the Pannier Market in accordance with the terms of the scheme (up to and including RIBA Stage 4) and 2) a lump sum tender for administering the terms of the building contract (RIBA Stage 5 & 6). Proposed work includes re-slating the roof, repairing roof timbers and lead work, replacing uPVC rainwater goods with cast iron, repairing and redecorating roof lights, hopper lights and louvre windows, selective re-pointing of masonry with lime mortar and refurbishing existing doors.
