Work description
Multi Species Laboratory at NPL is performing Gas Chromatography (GC) and Gas Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) techniques to analyse VOCs and other compounds. GC is the separation technique of choice for smaller volatile and semi-volatile organic molecules such as hydrocarbons, alcohols, and aromatics, as well as pesticides, steroids, fatty acids, and hormones, making this analytical technique common in many application areas and industry segments, particularly for environmental testing. When combined with the detection power of mass spectrometry (MS), GC-MS can be used to separate complex mixtures, quantify analytes, identify unknown peaks, and determine trace levels of contamination.
The system must be capable of loading and automatically analysing samples either loaded onto ATD tubes or from samples taken manually into samples vessels (e.g. cannisters) or sample bags by GC/MS.
The system should be comprised of an Automatic Thermal Desorber ATD) capable of analysing industry standard (Perkin Elmer type) sorbent tubes and sample cannisters, whish is linked to a Gas Chromatograph (GC)/Mass spectrometer (MS).
The supplied system must be capable of loading known amount of calibration gas onto the systems cold trap when analysing ATD tubes.
Additional information: The Authority is using the LUPC Bravo e-Procurement portal to conduct the procurement process. All Suppliers must register their company via the LUPC Bravo Portal.
