Description
Background to Project The study to be conducted builds upon Anguilla's National Ecosystem Assessment to produce a set of National Environmental Accounts that can be used to incorporate the socio economic value of the natural resources of the territory into policy and decision making. The project will; 1. Establish the estimated Total Economic Value (eTEV) of the terrestrial and marine environment to Anguilla; 2. Produce Anguilla's first National Environmental Account; 3. Identify priority natural capital assets; and 4. Develop framework to monitor changes through time. The project will be guided by and build on a previous economic assessment project undertaken in the islands. A list of habitats and ecosystem services were identified in the 2016 report and the environmental economics training identified priority areas for a natural capital assessment for a first-year national account: tourism, agriculture, fisheries, coastal flooding, inland flooding, clean air, water resources and wildlife habitats. This study does not intend to cover all ecosystems, ecosystem services and possible applications but will focus on the priorities already identified by Anguilla stakeholders at the June environmental economics training. The focus of the work to be undertaken between end November 2018 and end March 2019 will be on valuing the identified priority areas and producing a first national environmental account for Anguilla, using primary data collected for the project and existing, secondary, data already available. Additional information: You are invited by JNCC Support Co. (JNCC) to submit a tender for the supply of works or services required under the above project.
