Description
The overarching aim of this research is to produce a prevalence rate of individuals in receipt of any taxable, non-PAYE income where the activities are facilitated by an intermediary, and to understand the detailed characteristics of individuals generating income in this way. The objectives of this research are: i. To establish a prevalence rate of individuals in the UK population in receipt of taxable, non-PAYE income where the activities and payment are facilitated by an intermediary; ii. To establish a prevalence rate of individuals in the following subgroups: a. Individuals providing services through online platforms; b. Individuals trading through online marketplaces; c. Individuals sharing tangible assets using online and offline platforms, including those renting property as a UK-based landlord. iii. To understand the characteristics and experiences of individuals in receipt of this form of income, including income levels, income regularity, reliance on cashflow, expense levels and demographic characteristics.
