GB-Burton upon Trent: Alterations and Improvements to Toilet Facilities at Burton Town Hall

Burton Town Hall is a Grade II Listed Building of Victorian design. It was designed by Reginald Churchill and built by Thomas Lowe and Sons in 1881 to be presented as a gift to the town by Michael Thomas Bass. The original building extended from the clock tower to Rangemore Street. A further room was added to the building courtesy of Michael Arthur Bass, the first Baron of Burton in 1888, followed by a complete suite of council offices, including a council chamber being commissioned in 1891 by Lord Burton. The building was then presented to the Town for municipal purposes with the building formally being opened on the 6th November 1984. The Town Hall building is now in need of repair works as expressly detailed in the specification.

The Works comprise the alterations and improvements to toilet facilities within Burton Town Hall including: a new drainage connection and removing of walls to form new / alter openings to the Reception Toilets as well as modernising / decoration of the facilities; and modernising / decoration of the Main Hall Female and Male Toilets. Mechanical, electrical and public health services are also included.

Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
