Description
The Future Operating Environment (FOE) is likely to place additional cognitive demand onto individuals in teams who are conducting an already complex Command and Control (C2) task. This could be exacerbated by increases in technology (systems and information available), a wider range of potential threats and the expansion of battlespace domains to include cyber and space. Sensemaking is the skills, knowledge and behaviours used to determine when a routine situation is moving to non-routine or when the situation may not be as originally perceived.
