Work description
The Borough Council of Bolton (“the Authority”) is prepared to receive tenders for Private Hire and Hackney Carriage Vehicle Testing which will be subject to the information, specification and tender package enclosed. The Authority has a statutory duty, provided by the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, to ensure that all Private Hire Vehicle’s (PHV's) and Hackney Carriage Vehicle’s (HCV's) that operate within the borough’s boundaries undergo regular mechanical and bodywork compliance checks to ensure their suitability to be used as ‘taxis’ licensed by the Authority. The Authority currently has approximately 1400 PHV’s and HCV’s licenced to operate in the borough. The majority of these will require 2 tests per year, and a proportion of tests may lead to partial or full re-tests. The Provider shall carry out Class IV MOT tests, and must have DVSA-accredited MOT testing stations within the borough’s boundary.
