Work description
Package 1 - Cold Water Mains Replacement The replacement of the HMS Belfast existing cold-water distribution installation which consists of original steel pipework that has asbestos insulation, copper pipework and plastic. All redundant copper and plastic pipework shall be isolated, drained and removed from the ship for proper disposal. Package 2 - Hot Water Mains Replacement The replacement of the hot water mains replacement and the contractor shall include the supply and installation of new electric direct unvented hot water cylinders of the capacity as indicated on the drawings. These cylinders shall be complete temperature and pressure relief valves, electric immersion heaters and programmable time controller. Package 3 - CAT5 Wash Down The CAT 5 system installation is intended to serve the external wash-down bib taps. The system shall consist of a 5 bar 2l/s CAT5 booster pump set and 250litre break tank to be located on Deck S1 in the Optical Workshop replacing the existing down water service tank. CAT5 pipework shall be fully insulated and Aluclad, where pipework is routed outside, this pipework shall be provided with self-regulating trace heating tape to prevent winter freezing. The contractor shall also be responsible for the electrical installation associated with the Hot water and CAT5 services.
Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
