Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) and the University of Liverpool (UoL) have created a Joint Venture company; Sensor City Liverpool Ltd (SCLL) (the Client) to deliver a Sensor-systems Business Innovation Centre focused on creating, nurturing and establishing commercially-viable, hi-tech companies. The project is supported with capital funding from the Department of Business Innovation & Skills (BIS). BIS has created four University Enterprise Zones in specific geographical areas where universities and business work together to increase local growth and innovation. Liverpool is one of those areas.
