Description

The University of Birmingham has awarded a contract to replace the current Telephony system and Contact Centre software. The maintenance element of the contract will be for five years. The current phone system is a Mitel MX-One with Solidus Contact Centre software. The original Line Interface Modules (LIMs) were installed in 1996 and an upgrade to version 4.1 with a server based IP backbone was carried out in October 2010. The current system supports approximately 6,600 digital handsets and up to 1,000 analogue connections. The key objective of the Unified Communications (UC) Project is to; 1) Provide flexible enhanced UC functionality to Staff and Students of the University. 2) Reduce risk of System failure by removing an old system and building a modern resilient platform. 3) Reduced direct cost of System ownership and reduce indirect costs in handling communications within the University.
