Description
Secure expert input from an individual (or individuals) to work collaboratively with JNCC to develop a framework for undertaking MPA condition assessments. This will entail: a. A review, summary and critique of existing approaches to undertaking MPA condition assessments in the UK based on material provided by JNCC to the successful individual (or individuals). b. A review of the applicability of existing threshold-based approaches undertaken for larger-scale assessments and their application at the MPA scale (notably applied to OSPAR and under the UK Marine Strategy). c. Drawing together the findings from a. and b. to develop a 'strawman' framework for improved approaches to undertaking MPA condition assessments in the UK (in particular in offshore waters (beyond 12 nautical miles) context). d. A set of SMART recommendations for further work. The main deliverable from this contract is expected to be a single technical report that meets the specifications outlined in a-d above.
