Description

Uttlesford District Council (UDC) is looking for an experienced Building Contractor to remodel a poorly designed Sheltered Housing Scheme, comprising 26 x 1 bedroom flats (owned by the Council) and to provide a modest two storey extension. The site is located to the east of Saffron Walden Town Centre, at the junction of Radwinter Road and Chaters Hill. The scheme was originally constructed in 1991 and is in part two storeys and three storeys with a pitched roof. The building is occupied by elderly residents, who will remain in situ whilst works are carried out. Construction will therefore need to be phased, utilising up to five empty properties within the scheme. It is therefore essential that the successful Contractor has experience of working with residents living on site. The planning application, reference UTT/14/2948/FUL was approved with conditions by the Council on 13 November 2014. Full details of the application and associated documents are available to view from our web-site using the following link http://publicaccess.uttlesford.gov.uk/online-applications The estimated Contract Sum for the works, allowing for several phases, is currently estimated at circa £1.6m (excluding VAT). If you are interested in applying to tender for the works, which will be carried out on the basis of a JCT Intermediate form of contract, please e-mail procurement@uttlesford.gov.uk expressing your interest. You will be required to send your completed pre-qualification information to the Council for consideration by 10:00 on Thursday 28th May 2015.
