Description
***** THIS IS AN AWARD NOTICE, NOT A CALL FOR COMPETITION ***** This procurement is being concluded following a mini competition under the CCS RM6126 Research & insights DPS Brief Description of Requirement By producing quantitative estimates of carbon and economic benefits of various biomanufacturing technologies, this research will highlight areas in which biomass use in the chemicals sector can best contribute to growing innovation and the economy, while also helping meet the UK's Net Zero ambitions. This knowledge will allow the Department to establish strong policy measures which will steer the chemicals sector towards the best bio-based production routes, allowing them to prosper in a sector which currently benefits from the largest R&D spend in the UK. This project will help shape our advice on the right level of ambition for chemicals- and materials-based applications of engineering biology, which was identified as a priority technology area in the UK Innovation Strategy.
