Provision of Speech, Language and Communication - A Universal and Early Targeted Service

A commissioning review of Speech, Language and communication needs for children was previously undertaken on behalf of the Betterstart partnership. The review concluded that a focused universal and early targeted speech and language service was required for children aged birth to four years.

The commissioned service will:

• Provide early identification and interventions for 0-5 year olds with speech, language and communication needs • Develop a children's workforce that have skills, knowledge and confidence in speech, language and communication needs • Support parents and carers with appropriate information and skills to be able to effectively communicate with their children
