Work description
The National Horizons Centre project is receiving up to £3.8m of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. The Department for Communities and Local Government (and in London the intermediate body Greater London Authority) is the Managing Authority for European Regional Development Fund.
Established by the European Union, the European Regional Development Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support innovation, businesses, create jobs and local community regenerations.

The works comprise the design and construction of a new three storey research and teaching facility along with associated drainage and external works. The new building will provide a range of laboratory accommodation and associated support spaces to support the expansion of Teesside University's Darlington Campus. The external works will include the design and construction of new car parking, service yard and boulevard areas along with a connection to the recently completed spine road to the south.
