Description
North Yorkshire County Council wishes to appoint a contractor to carry out Riverbed Scour Repair at Brgess Bridge (footbridge), down Nidd Gorge, Harrogate. Dates 16/09/2019 - 11/10/2019 Works Include: Access Creation - Felling of Trees on the riverbank, to be undertaken by Forestry Commission prior to works start to clear access. Himalayan Balsam to be cleared from the access route. If contractor requires temp access route to be created, Heavy Duty Mats must be used. Enviromental Protection - Two silt traps to be installed across the full width of the river prior to any works taking place with the water course. To be monitored and installed/ removed with care. Contractor to ensure that any silt which is mobilised during the course of the works should be preventing from entering the watercourse. 2 rows of silt traps are the minimum required for this contract. Regular compliance checks will be carried out Scour repair - Large voids in Spans 2,3 & 4 to be filled using locally sourced rock. To be lowered in using excavator, starting with Span 2. Voids to be filled up to the existing scour protection, and to form a sensible gradient with levels taken 6m upstream and 3m downstream. Tree removal - Large tree on downstream side to be removed as access becomes available. to be cut down in stages are removed to the banks, where it will be disposed of. Stone Cladding Repair/Repoint. - Areas marked in MS. 3 stones to be replaced and repointed, section of pier 2 to be repointed. To be undertaken once river bed levels have been restored to the original level. Demobilize - area to be restored to original condition and site to be left clean and tidy
