Work description
DCMS would like to investigate the International Mobile Roaming (Roaming) markets, between the UK and the US, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. The project aim is to estimate the trade value of international mobile roaming between the UK and specific countries across the rest of the world (the US, Australia, New Zealand and Japan), specifically on a wholesale level. This includes identifying the economic costs and benefits of international mobile roaming to telecoms businesses (MNOs, MVNOs) both in the UK and its partner countries. The information gathered will strengthen the evidence base on the topic of international mobile roaming and through this will inform policy development.
To achieve this, the project aims at collecting the estimated level of core telecoms services roaming traffic (voice, SMS, data) between countries, and the wholesale prices and costs of providing these services.
