A511 MRN Growth Corridor - Compulsory Purchase Order Objections

Legal Services have appointed external solicitors, Trowers & Hamlins from the EM Lawshare Framework to undertake all the legal work in relation to the preparation and making of a compulsory purchase order, associated side roads order. A contract for £85,000 was approved last year but has been reached as the costs for Counsel's fees were not included in the calculation.\r \r The Council has made the compulsory purchase order and is now dealing with objections to the orders. The original PID form for Trowers fees did not cover Counsel's fees but as Counsel has been appointed by Trowers Counsel's fees are being paid to Trowers who then deal with settlement with Counsel's Chambers.\r \r The budget sought for this bid covers both Trowers fees and Counsel's fees as there is considerable work to be carried out to achieve confirmation of the orders. The Council has received 7 objections to the CPO and is engaged in trying to reach agreement with the objectors for the withdrawal of these objections prior to the matter being heard at a public inquiry where both Trowers and Counsel will be representing the Council.
