Purchase of a Vessell

Sellafield Ltd's existing vessel (MV Eagle) had a major failure to the port engine in September 2016 which has resulted in Sellafield Ltd being unable to fully deploy the vessel.

Sellafield Ltd has a requirement to deliver: appropriate Examination, Inspection and Maintenance (EIM&T) activities to cover the Environmental Permit for Radioactive Substances Regulations, issued by the Environmental Agency to Sellafield Ltd. There is also a requirement to comply with ONR Site Licence Condition 28 in line with the 'Lagoon and Sealines Radiological Safety Case'.

In order to ensure compliance and meet regulatory expectations Sellafield Ltd has taken the decision to procure a second hand vessel in order to remedy the issue as quickly as possible.
