Work description
The Hepatitis C Programme is aiming to achieve elimination in England before the WHO target of 2030, and has a UK government aim to achieve this by 2025. Over 55,000 people have already been treated, partly due to a significant expansion of curative treatment capacity utilising new direct acting antivirals (DAAs). However, we need to be able to provide testing on a large scale in order to provide treatment to those who need it. in order to support the work of the ODNs, a web portal is required to allow individuals who would otherwise not be engaged with other services (such as drug and alcohol provision, prison and probation services, or general practice and community pharmacy) to order a HCV test. This also allows for individuals who may have historic risk or who are reluctant to approach their GP, to allow them to order a test discreetly and privately. The portal will also be required to allow those who require treatment for HCV to access it.
