Work description
Derby City Council (DCC) has a duty under the Environmental Protection Act to kennel stray dogs for a minimum of seven days. In addition to this legal duty, the Council has also historically offered a service to collect strays. The successful supplier will work alongside Derby City Council's Environmental Protection Team, providing services which as a minimum will comprise the seizure, kennelling and maintenance of stray dogs in Derby City. This will also include out-of-hours acceptance and collection of stray dogs, a stray dog rehoming service and microchipping of dogs.
The initial contract period is three years; the contract is estimated to commence 16th October 2021 and expire 15th October 2024. There will be an option to extend the contract for a further 2 years in annual increments, subject to satisfactory performance and business needs.
