This is a framework contract for General Building Works which shall encompass and deliver general building and refurbishment, or improvement works on projects above the value of £25k. Our previous iteration of this framework was used for works up to £1.3million, however contractors should be aware that projects of this size are very rare, with 50% of awards made on the previous framework being for projects valued at between £25,000 and £50,000, and another 40% of awards being for projects valued between £50,001 and £500,000. The framework will predominantly involve working with our existing buildings and may be of a multi-disciplinary nature, whereby the contractors on the framework will be expected to, and capable of, managing their own sub-contractors on a project-by-project basis (no more than 50% of the work is to be sub-contracted). The majority of Lancaster Unviersity's buildings are on the main campus, with a number of satellite buildings within a two-mile radius of Bailrigg. The projects are likely to be varied in nature but will fundamentally involve work on our existing buildings, either internally or externally. Typically, this framework is likely to be used for office fit-outs, remodelling and refurbishment, accessibility and safety alterations and improvements, and fire safety improvement works. It will not include groundworks, civil engineering, high value new builds, or reactive maintenance with a value of less than £25k.
