Holiday Activities and Food Programme Delivery (HAF)

Somerset County Council (SCC) recognises the pressures that can be felt families during school holiday periods due to increased costs and reduced incomes, something only exacerbated by the global pandemic. For children and young people from disadvantaged families this can mean they are:

• Less likely to access organised out-of-school activities • More likely to have a poor diet and lack of opportunity for exercise • More likely to experience social isolation

The HAF Programme is a national response to these issues, and there is a strong evidence base about the positive impact this provision has on children and young people and their families who have benefitted from the programme.
